Fear Free Visits for Dogs

“Cure Sometimes. Treat Often. Comfort Always.”

Here at Aspen Grove, we focus on both the emotional and physical well-being of our patients. By following these simple steps before your appointment you, too, can help make your dog’s vet visit as fear and stress free as possible.

Don’t forget to bring quiet games and snacks to entertain any children accompanying you to the appointment.

Bring your dog hungry

If you can, withhold the meal prior to the appointment. This will make your dog more receptive to treat rewards. At Aspen Grove, we generously use treats with our patients both in the exam room and in the treatment area.

Exam room treat bars

All of our exam rooms have a stocked treat bar available to our staff and clients free of charge. Additionally, we keep the following treats on-hand to be used generously by our doctors and nurses:

  • Baby Food
  • Peanut Butter
  • Gentle Snackers (hypoallergenic)
  • Lean Treats
  • Tricky Treats (duck)
  • pill pockets

If your dog does not like any of our treats, has a food allergy or is on a restricted diet, please bring a small bag of his/her favorite treats for us to use instead.

Happy visits

Bring your dog in as often as possible for a happy visit (i.e. weight check with lots of love from our staff, Doggie Day Care, just to say ‘hi’ and receive treats from our staff!)

The car ride

Play soothing music during the car ride here. We recommend the CD titled “Through a Dog’s Ear”
